Sleeping was written by Jemma Rowlands, and recorded at the end of Jemma & The Clifton Hillbillies trip to Nashville in late 2016.
With a few days up their sleeve in Nashville, Cal Walker, Sean McMahon and Jemma Rowlands worked with Engineer Graham Waks of Left Plus Right Studio to produce a song waiting in the sidelines to be brought to life at the right time. It happened to be then, when there were three. Sleeping was made, with Rowlands on vocals, Cal Walker on piano and bass and Sean McMahon on acoustic and electric guitar.
Andrew Watson was later added to the mix on violins and viola, with the help of Mick Thomas engineering at the Big Blue Bent Bungalow in Melbourne.
This song, in content, and production is a close of a chapter.
Jemma & The Clifton Hillbillies will be playing at Port Fairy Folk Festival on March 10-13, then Jemma Rowlands will be going on to write and work on a new project and album.
